Number of new hair style, you want to hit refresh, not re-invent your identity. Instead of taking drastic mane measures, try these gorgeous snips-less, salon-free styling ideas.

SHORT HAIR STYLE 

1. SLICK-BACK GLAM

JLaw (Jennifer Lawrence for the uninitiated) is proof you don’t need long tresses to pull off a glam do.

• Run some mousse through damp hair. Try Kérastase Mousse Volumifique.
• Blow-dry your mane while combing your hair backwards with a round brush. Blow-drying gets rid of the frizz.
• “Set the style with a strong-hold hairspray so that hair stays in place, and then run your fingers through your hair to add texture,” concludes Delhi-based make-up artist Vipin Arora.

2. CASUAL SWAG

Love just-out-of-bed hair but don’t think you can pull it off? Take inspiration from Anne Hathaway who traded her long locks for a choppy bob.

• “Blow-dry your hair and follow up with mousse to maintain the damp look,” says Arora. Try Matrix Go Big Extra Strong Hold Mousse.

3.UNEVEN BOB

• “Run wet-look gel all through damp strands with your fingers,” says Delhi-based make-up and hair expert Chandni Singh. Try L’Oréal Professional Aqua Gloss Wet Look Gel.
• Centre-part your hair with a comb and blow-dry it to stay in place. This will set the gel and intensify shine as the gel hardens.

4. SLICK TRICK

Sonakshi Sinha’s recent experiments are quite successful and it has taken years off her face. Get there in a few easy steps.

• Blow-dry damp hair to remove frizz and use an anti-frizz or straightening serum. Try TIGI Bed Head Control Freak.
• “Side-part your hair and then use a hair straightener moving upwards and away from your crown to generate bounce,” says Arora.
• Spray with a holding spray to finish.

5. BEAUTIFUL BOUNCE

Anushka Sharma’s loose, undone waves spice up a classic girl-next-door look. “This look is best achieved on a day-old mane,” suggests Singh.

• You will need a good texturing spray. Just drop your head and give that mane some volume at the roots by gently scrunching it upwards with the texturing spray. Try Toni&Guy Sea Salt Texturing Spray.
• “The push and scrunch movement adds volume at the roots and shapes a few loose waves,” she adds.

6. SEXY SPIRALS

Kangana Ranaut’s curled-to-perfection hair is ever reminiscent of a 60s pin-up.

• “Use foam rollers on damp hair to curl your hair. You can also leave it on overnight if your hair is overtly straight,” says Singh.
• To curl, swipe some mousse till the ends and divide hair into sections. Loop every section on a hot roller and leave for at least an hour. Try Wella Extra Volume Styling Mousse.
• “Open each section and then spritz your mane with a spray that adds shine,” she says. Try B:Blunt Spotlight Hair Polish.

LONG HAIR STYLE 

7. HOT BUNS

Aditi Rao Hydari’s high bun could easily go from work to cocktails. It’s also genius for days when you’re lazy.

• “Start with towel-dried hair and spray a texturing spray through the roots. Tease for hold and texture,” says the UK-based Mark Hampton, global hair ambassador for Toni&Guy. Try Oriflame HairX Styling Ultimate Style Hairspray.
• With a one-inch curling iron, take generous sections of hair and wind it away from the face vertically. After finishing on either side of the head, gather the back section of hair and tease lightly.

8.THE SLICK POUF

• Section your hair into three segments: the crown, the back and the sides. Take the sides and sweep them backwards into a low ponytail. Secure it with bobby pins. Finish with hair spray. Try Matrix Design Pulse Hard Lock Hairspray.
• Take the crown portion and tease the hair for volume. If you shy away from back combing, you can also use bump-it or foam to add volume.
• “Flip the crown portion back and use bobby pins to secure it in place. Spray it again so that strays stay in place,” says Singh. Sonam’s style works for women who don’t have the time to style.

9. TWIST AND SHOUT

• Section your hair with a side part into three sections: the two sides and the back. Run serum through your hair to add shine. Try Livon Moroccan Silk Serum.
• Take the back of the hair and secure it into a pony tail. Take a section of the side part and keep twisting it moving your hand backwards towards the ponytail. Secure with bobby pins. Comb the other side back into the pony.
• “Now section your pony into equal sections. Twist and rotate each section around the pony,” says Singh.
